Who knew people liked hot girls on the Internet? Facebook has released its “Memology 2011” report, and it turns out Megan Fox and Rihanna both surged in popularity this year thanks to millions of “Likes” on the 7-year-old social network.
With more than 29 million fans, Fox’s official page was named the fastest-growing entertainment page, while Rihanna’s page won the music category with more than 47 million “Likes.” Rihanna also had the most-played song on Facebook with “We Found Love,” which was followed by Katy Perry’s “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.).”
While Rihanna had a big year with two albums charting on Billboard, a massive tour and a few key guest spots, Megan Fox’s surging popularity is a little more perplexing. Did people just feel bad for her unappreciated work on Passion Play? We thought for sure her popularity would take a hit after Rosie Huntington-Whiteley took her place in the Transformers franchise, but Fox is as popular as ever.
In other metrics measured in the new report, Charlie Sheen made the list of Facebook’s top trends found in people’s status updates, but the top two spots were both reserved for some very Facebook language: “lms” (like my status) and “tbh” (to be honest). Check out the full report here.
