Eminem’s ‘Lie’ Video Shoot Was Like An Acting Workshop, Director Says

Joseph Kahn says Megan Fox and Dominic Monaghan didn’t have an easy job on ‘Love the Way You Lie’ set.

Given that he’s one of the biggest names in music videos and his latest project featured both Eminem and Rihanna, Joseph Kahn should have had no problem casting the two leads for the “Love the Way You Lie” video. And yet, he considers himself “incredibly lucky” to have landed both Dominic Monaghan and Megan Fox for the clip.

“Megan is one of those choices, like, whenever you write a music video, you go, ‘I want a girl like Megan Fox,’ ” Kahn told MTV News. “I guarantee, like, 95 percent of music videos, they write, ‘I would like a girl like Megan Fox.

Kahn said Fox is so popular, he didn’t initially consider her participation a possibility. “We were actually looking around for some other actresses, and then, midway through, I just thought, ‘Why don’t I just try this?’ ” he said. “I mean, I have the biggest artist in the world, with the hottest song on the planet, with the hottest female artist … and it’s a meaty role. It’s not like you’re just slipping in there and looking pretty.”

Fortunately for Kahn, Fox is an Eminem fan, and she loved the song and the role. “So, she said ‘yes,’ ” he said. “I was blown away.”

On the other hand, the director said he considered courting Monaghan right away. “I wanted him because he’s an actor who can bury himself [in his roles],” Kahn said. “You can do anything with him, and essentially, he’s a villain through all of [the video], and I think he did a great job.”

So, with two big-name actors on set, and only two days to shoot the entire video, Kahn had his work cut out for him. Monaghan and Fox were going to need to channel conflicting emotions — anger one second, passion the next — and do it quickly. As the director, it was up to Kahn to help them harness all of that — often at a moment’s notice. Luckily for him, he had two of the best to work with.

“I just told them: This is not like a normal film. We have two days on set, and we have to think of it as an acting workshop, because you’re going to have to ramp up into emotions in two seconds, you’re not going to know what the story is, and you’re going to have to trust one another,” he explained. “I’m asking them to go from zero to 100 in two seconds, so they were using all their techniques as actors. Dom would be calling her names, she’d be calling him names … to see them turn it on like that, it was really a fascinating acting study.”

Megan talks about Brian

Megan Fox has revealed that she felt electrocuted the first time Brian Austin Green touched her accidentally. She had an inkling that they are made for each other the first time they had touched each other physically. They had a long term affair and called it off for a very brief period of time, only to get back together again.

Fox commented that even though she did not know Brian earlier, she developed an instant liking for him when Brian appeared as a guest actor on the U.S.sitcom ‘Hope and Faith’ in 2004. Fox had a major role in that sitcom.

The 23 year old actress felt that he had brought stability in her life for which she had always craved. In an interview to Harper’s Bazaar Magazine, she told that with time, she has changed a lot. Not only she progressed, she also regressed at times and has gone through difficult times.

She believes that she can hold on to Brian whenever she feels insecure and unstable. Brian has brought back the spark that was missing in her life and she has never looked back since then. She has found her ‘rock’ and this is what she needed most in her life.

First Look At Passion Play

A new picture from “Passion Play” has been released ahead of its premiere at the 35th Annual Toronto International Film Festival. Though it still focuses on two lead stars, Megan Fox and Mickey Rourke, the shot manages to give the first look at the major female character with her wings while she is displayed in a room with a big window.

In the film, the “Jennifer’s Body” babe portrays Lily, a slender beauty with wings who is part of a carnival. “She has wings, so she was sort of an oddity trapped in a carnival act,” Rourke has said about Fox’s character. “She’s been a prisoner her whole life, and she has no understanding of trust. She’s very vulnerable and delicate.”

Rourke, meanwhile, will be seen as a troubled trumpet player named Nate who finds redemption after saving Lily from a gangster Happy Shannon. Bill Murray takes the antagonist role which was initially supposed to be tackled by Toby Kebbell.

“Bill Murray isn’t your typical scary, spooky guy, and there’s something very unnerving about a guy with a sort of off-the-wall sense of delivery,” Rourke gushed on his co-star. “It’s very unexpected. Some of your worst gangsters are guys who were very low-key. I kind of like the fact that Mitch went against the grain and didn’t use a Hollywood stereotype.”

“Passion Play” is directed and written by Mitch Glazer with Daniel Dubiecki, Megan Ellison and Jonah M. Hirsch on the board of producers. This drama is expected to be picked up for U.S. distribution at upcoming Toronto Film Festival which will start September 9 until date 19 of the same month.

Jonah Hex Coming To Blu-Ray

Warner Home Video has announced that the summer film, JONAH HEX starring Josh Brolin, Megan Fox and John Malkovich, will be released on Blu-ray on October 12th in a BD/DVD/Digital Copy combo pack. The film features Brolin as a bounty hunter who is tracking a terrorist in exchange for his freedom. The film, based on the DC Comics, was a bit of a flop, only bringing in a little of $10 million at the box office and did not go over so well with critics. Since the film was received so poorly, it’s really no surprise that we have so few special features, I’m sure it would have been packed if it had done just a few million better. Special features include:

* The Inside Story of Jonah Hex
* The Weird Western Tales of Jonah Hex
* Deleted Scenes
